The Missouri State Ice Bears, ranked No. 18 in the latest ACHA Division 1 poll, host the No. 2 ranked Lindenwood University Lions on Thursday, Nov. 5 and the No. 6 ranked University of Oklahoma Sooners on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 6-7 at Mediacom Ice Park.
Friday’s game against the University of Oklahoma will be Military Night with custom Ice Bears’ game-worn jerseys auctioned to the highest bidder through the conclusion of the second period.
All proceeds will benefit the family of 22-year-old Kindall Johnson, a Missouri State University student and member of the United States Marine Corps, who took his life in October.
It’s the third charity event organized by the hockey club following exhibition games Sept. 4-5 against the Springfield Express to benefit the Assistive Technology Outdoor Professionals (ATOP) Sled Dogs hockey team and Oct. 16-17 games against the University of Southern Illinois to benefit the Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks.
The Ice Bears return home after an October 29-31 road trip in Colorado after splitting games against Colorado State — a 5-3 loss and 6-5 win — then falling 4-1 to the University of Colorado on Oct. 31.
Reserved seats are $9 with $8 general admission and $4 student general admission tickets available at the door the day of the game. Tickets can also be purchased in advance through Missouri State Tix by calling 417-836-7678, or 888-476-7849.
WebSportsRadio.com will broadcast all three games live and Saturday’s game will also be carried on KBFL-99.9 FM. The “Ice Bears Coaches Show” will be broadcast live Saturday night at 10:30 p.m. on Jock 98.7 FM from Coyote’s Adobe Café and Bar on Glenstone in Springfield.
